One of EJA's early collaborations was with renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta (1931–2011). The timeless Sonoma ranch featured a world-class art collection, which EJA elegantly illuminated. Legorreta fused modernist principles with vibrant color, light, and traditional Mexican forms.

EJA is proud to partner with the Bay Area's most talented architects, builders, and interior designers. One of these is architect Greg Warner of Walker Warner. Greg grew up in Hawaii, where he was exposed to the work of Vladimir Ossipoff. The Russian-born architect who studied in Japan is regarded as the Dean of Hawaiian Modernism. Greg's aesthetics complement those of his partner, Brooks Walker, who comes from a multi-generational Bay Area architectural family. Founding their firm in 1989, they've furthered the Bay Area and Hawaiian Modernist ethos with restrained, site-specific designs for private estates and public spaces.

While some craftspeople work with their hands to create works of art and function, others utilize their craft to orchestrate the experience. One of our collaborators who falls into this latter category is Ken Fulk and his team of creative visionaries at Ken Fulk, Inc. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Ken on multiple projects. Below he shares his thoughts on craftsmanship. 

Craftsmanship in lighting design is an art form that combines functionality with aesthetics.

The art of lighting design goes beyond the mere selection and arrangement of fixtures and bulbs—it profoundly influences the ambiance and aesthetics of a space. Each stakeholder in the design process brings a unique perspective to the table, which requires a lighting designer’s particular skillset and expertise in weaving together these diverse perspectives to create a cohesive lighting design.

Among our most valued and long-standing professional relationships is the one we have with Nicole Hollis. Her namesake design studio's monograph, NICOLEHOLLIS: Curated Interiors (Rizzoli, 2020) includes Kua Bay for which EJA provided the lighting design.
