This project combines classical and contemporary architectural design in a seamless integration of a 1924 Italian Renaissance home and a distinctly modern intervention of glass and steel.

The challenge for the lighting design was to echo this sense of continuity with consistent illumination that helps knit together the home’s two architectural languages. Subtle mono points integrated into the steel-clad exterior call attention to the contemporary architectural details, while indirect light flows from the interior to provide a subtle wash of light on the softer curves of the historic facade. In the walled garden, tree mounted mono points illuminate the surrounding path areas and the century-old Copper Beach tree that forms the garden’s focal point.
